Athens and Attica week 1: prehistoric Acropolis

Jack led our first group trip to the Acropolis, describing and pointing out the prehistoric elements hidden among the other remains of all the other time periods.

We saw bits of the older wall exposed within the Classical wall.

The plan had been to go down and see the prehistoric elements under the temple of Athena Nike in small groups. I went with the first group and got to see an inscription, a bit of wall, and a statue base. It was very dark, and we found out, that was the reason we weren't actually allowed inside. The lights didn't work and sadly we were asked to come back out.

Jack also led us through the prehistoric items in the Agora museum.

Winter term: Athens and Attica

Now that the fall term is over so are the fall trips. During the winter term, we mostly stay in Athens. We have a choice of two seminars being offered, one on Byzantine art and the other on ancient Greek inscribed epigram. We also attend the Athens and Attica seminar which includes visits to the various museums and sites located in Athens and once a week we take the bus to sites within Attica. We also have 5 Wiener Lab workshops which allow us to learn about the work they do there.
