The day began at the tip of the middle peninsula, called the Mani, of the three "fingers" of the Peloponese. First we heard from Sarah about the cave at the tip of Cape Tairnaron which was believed to be one of the entrances to the underworld.

Next, we climbed up the hill to the very tip of the land to a lighthouse where we saw a seal swimming!!
On our way to the next destination, we stopped to have a look around the nearly abandoned village of Vathia with beautiful views of the cape.
We stopped to hear from Jonida about the role the Mani played in the Greek Revolution of 1821. Then we had a look (and a climb) around a set of castle walls.
Our last stop of the day was the Vapheio Mycenaean tholos tomb, which was very difficult to photograph without it looking like just a stone wall.
