Our first stop was a sobering one. In the town of Dhistimo there is a monument and small museum honoring those villagers (men, women, and children) who were brutally killed by the Nazis in 1943.
The weather was much colder and windier than the previous day. At Hosios Loukas, a Middle Byzantine monastery, we took shelter from the wind inside an archway as we listened to Glenn tell us about the architecture and history of the place.
After lunch we made an unplanned stop near (or maybe in?) Plyi at a church called Porta Panagia where Glenn was able to persuade the gentleman in charge to let us in and have a look.
This also happened to be one the locations where Caesar marched during the civil war with Pompey. Coming through this place in particular helped Caesar change the course of the war against Pompey in Greece.
We then took the bus a short distance to a beautiful bridge built in 1514.
Our last stop of the day was at a mausoleum in Trikala which Glenn told us about. It was originally a mosque built in the 16th century by Osman Shah.
