We started trip 4 with a three hour nature walk from Mycenae to Berbati.
Along the way, Professor Guy Sanders pointed out interesting plants and rocks, explaining their ancient uses, including this spiky sage bush which had been used as packing material!
After our walk, we visited the first tholos tomb of the trip, of which I sadly, did not get a good picture.
We stopped on the side of the road at a Mycenaean settlement site where we heard first Kyle's report on Pyrgouthi and then Flint's report on Hesiod's Works and Days and the ancient agricultural calendar.
We next had a look at a Mycenean dam, the sign for which has been translated into several languages, including Linear B!
We finished the day standing atop a tholos tomb of Tiryntha where we heard about the geomorphological evolution of the Argive plain.
