On our way to Epidauros, we stopped to see a Mycenaean era bridge.
At Epidauros, we saw temple foundations,
the columns of a round building under reconstruction,
a stadium,
the tunnel through which the athletes entered,
and the theater.
While outdoors at the site, Jess gave her report on the cult of Askelpios and I gave my report on the temple building account inscriptions. It was terribly cold and windy so I didn't investigate the site for too long before heading into the museum where some of the building accounts are housed.
Our next destination was the Franchti cave getting to which required a pleasant walk along the beach.
We explored the cave, climbing over the rocks that had fallen in when the cave ceiling collapsed.
At the back of the cave we found an underground lake.
Farther along, I found a wall with climbing routes bolted into the rock face. The routes were even named!
After exploring for a bit, we met up near the mouth of the cave to hear Eleanna's report on another cave, the Andritsa Cave, where she's worked on skeletal remains found there.
Thank you for letting me see Greece through your eyes.
